Fun Fridays: Make your own stress ball…

I’ve had my fair amount of stress lately, so I wanted to share this easy idea of how you too can make your own stress relief ball.  Hope it helps! =)

How to Make a Balloon Stress Ball

Making a stress ball is very easy. They can be given as gifts or kept on your desk at home, school, or work.

Steps

  1. Fill the balloon with sand
  2. When you like the way it feels and it’s just squishy enough, tie a knot at the top.
  3. Decorate it with a permanent marker. You can make faces, designs, or even just doodle.
  4. Squeeze it to death.

Tips

  • You can substitute the sand for flour, rice, or corn starch. Do not use water balloons, for they are too thin and will tear easily.

Warnings

  • If you use flour it will poof every where and make a mess

Things You’ll Need

  • Balloons
  • Sand
  • Markers (optional)

Fun Fridays: The Game of LIFE

Have some fun!  Play the Game of LIFE online!

*Here’s a tip:  Plan a Family Game Night once a week or even once a month!

Fun Fridays: Sudoku

It’s really my favorite thing to play when I’m bored. In fact, I almost solved an entire book this past weekend. So, here’s an online version for your enjoyment.

Fun Fridays: BUNCO

I recently joined a BUNCO group with a group of women.  Being that I really didn’t know what BUNCO was or how to play, I searched online to see if there was a version available…and found one offered through Prilosec.  Now, I’m addicted.

So, have some fun…and play some BUNCO

Fun Fridays: “Talk Like A Pirate” Day

Ayyyyy, matey!

You may be asking yourself why we have this day.  I have but only one answer for you.  Talking like a Pirate is fun.  =)

Here’s some basics for you for International “Talk Like A Pirate” Day:

Pirate lingo is rich and complicated, sort of like a good stew.

But if you just want a quick fix, a surface gloss, a “pirate patina,” if you will, here are the five basic words that you cannot live without. Master them, and you can face Talk Like a Pirate Day with a smile on your face and a parrot on your shoulder, if that’s your thing.

Ahoy!“Hello!”

Avast! – Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, “Whoa! Get a load of that!” which today makes it more of a “Check it out” or “No way!” or “Get off!”

Aye!“Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did.”

Aye aye!“I’ll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over.”

Arrr! – This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. “Arrr!” can mean, variously, “yes,” “I agree,” “I’m happy,” “I’m enjoying this beer,” “My team is going to win it all,” “I saw that television show, it sucked!” and “That was a clever remark you or I just made.” And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!

Arrr!!!  Now, go talk like a Pirate…well…because you can.  =)

Fun Fridays: Just Do It!

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

– Howard Thurman

I get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and work that I forget to really take the time to do things I want to do or to try new things that I’ve always wanted to.

So, I’ve decided to change that.  When I graduated from college, my father told me that before I have a family…if I ever get the opportunity to do things or go places…to not let it pass me by and to just do it…even if I really don’t have the money to.  I’m taking baby steps for now.

I signed up for a drawing class for eight weeks.  I also signed up to play Bunco with a team of women once a month.  After my drawing class, I probably will try out their pottery class.  I’m also figuring out how to save $ to sign up to volunteer for a few weeks abroad next year.

So…give it a shot.  Think of something you always wanted to do…maybe it’s taking a photography class…or perhaps it’s traveling to Europe…maybe even music lessons…or writing a book.  Set a goal to do it by December 31, 2009 and make it happen!  =)  (You’ll thank yourself later.)

I also ran across THIS blog that inspired me, so I thought I would share it with you.

Life is too short…stop waiting…make it count today!
